The new Health Care bill changes the taxation issues of Adult Child Premiums for the better. Many states have mandated that adult children can be covered until age 27 (WI). The issues for employers and HR administrators are, “what are the taxes associated with adult child premiums?”, “how do we administer and communicate the taxes to employees?”, “what benchmark do we use to find the fair market value for adult child premiums?” and finally “how do we apply imputed income?”.

If ever a company needed the tools in the Lean Six Sigma toolkit, it was eflexgroup.com (eflex). Based in Madison, Wisconsin, we are a third party administrator of health flexible spending accounts, dependent care accounts, HSAs, etc., for employers across the country. Our advertising includes three phrases: Fast Claims, Fast Answers, and Web Self-Service. Therein lay our problem: Our claim processing was not meeting the 24-hour turnaround we promised. In fact, they were averaging from seven to 10 days in early 2007.

New Legislation creates greater flexibility/confusion for Health Savings Accounts

Mumbo jumbo mumbo jumbo. This is what I heard when speaking with several attorneys about the information contained in this article. My question to the attorneys was what should insurance agents know on the new HSA rules that came out in December? My mission is to write an article that gives you a reference guide that aids you when counseling your clients and avoid the jumbo in the mumbo (I know… this is bad).

Debit Card Verification Request

Many of our participants are receiving requests for substantiation documentation for debit card purchases for the first time. These notices may come in the form of a letter or an email. We discovered that people were not receiving any notification, found the issue, and corrected it, so people are receiving these notifications.
